Jackbox Ambassador Interview: Meet LightsCameraSeek
It's time to meet LightsCameraSeek, Jackbox Stream Team and Ambassador extraordinaire! Seek takes time out of his busy streaming schedule to chat with our Community Manager about what it's like streaming Jackbox Games, being part of the team, and some of his motivations for continuing to stream! Seek is a deeply creative and supportive person who often hosts Jackbox events for his community and others. Let's learn more about LightsCameraSeek!
Question: Hi Seek, thanks for joining me today. Why don’t you introduce yourself and let folks know who you are, where they can find you, and what it is you do!
Answer: Hey there! I'm Seek and I'm a family friendly content creator and event producer from Philadelphia and I love creating content that brings people together!
Question: You’ve been part of the Official Jackbox Stream Team for quite some time! Can you tell us what it’s like streaming Jackbox Games with your audience?
Answer: It's crazy to think it's been 5 years with the team and it has been so great. I think streaming Jackbox with me and my community is to try to recreate an in-home, family fun experience. I love inviting people to play, putting them on teams, and seeing if they create some silly moments. Jackbox is great because it's casual; I like to push to make it semi-competitive (but fun).
Q: What’s your favorite Jackbox game to play while streaming?
A: To play while streaming, would definitely have to be Monster Seeking Monster. We play it like we're hosting a speed dating event in the Trivia Murder Hotel (an "official sponsor" - along with Binjpipe) and it is absolute hilarity.
Q: How did you start streaming?
A: I was always someone who hosted game nights before the pandemic. Once the pandemic hit, I wanted to try to bring that back virtually; even hosting my first shows from my couch on my Xbox. At a time when we needed connection I just wanted to shine a light in a dark place.
Q: What motivates you to continue streaming?
A: For me, it's about creating memories. I love being a catalyst for a good time.
Q: You’re active with lots of events and other groups, how do you balance streaming and life?
A: I don't haha! But seriously, I think it works for me that it's my day job too. I been doing events since college so it's second nature for me to bring that to my streams. But still being able to remember to take a breath is critical. Burnout, I learned, is from pushing too much when you need to take a natural pause.
Q: What’s your favorite Jackbox memory so far? (If you have a video clip, that would work well here!)
A: I would have to see it was when the voice actor from Guesspionage (my favorite Jackbox game of all time) agreed to do my Twitch alerts. I've redone them since but I still keep my dono alert to pay homage to the time. But it was such a cool moment to have given the Jackbox zeitgeist.
Q: If someone’s interested in streaming Jackbox on their own channel, do you have any tips or recommendations for them?
A: I would say understand your boundaries (family friendly vs non-family friendly) early as that can change your audience immensely. Utilize the moderation tools as they can help maintain order. And always start the game from you own controller so you don't have to wait for the VIP to start (that was huge when I started).
Q: If you could see one sequel to a Jackbox game, which game would it be?
A: Guesspionage and it's not even close. I would love to see it evolve with custom questions (a la Quiplash custom decks), different styles of polling, the whole nine. You could also allow updated polling similar to Scramble Survey so that questions are always current regardless of the time.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
A: I'm so incredibly grateful to Jackbox for the honor of streaming their games and to show these games to both communities and creators alike. It means the world and I hope one day I can do more to grow this amazing community within Jackbox.
